This week has been frustrating. I’m the type of person who can get into my own head and muddle things up something fierce. All week, I’ve been depressed about my progress and my focus. Upset that I don’t have enough work completed. Upset that I haven’t found one solid direction to follow. Upset that I’m jumping from medium to medium. This is not unusual, however. I can go from elated to dejected in two shakes of a lamb’s tail. I’m pretty sure my brain is hardwired this way, and I’m hoping I’m not the only person out there who is like this.
After I started feeling this way I had to step back and force myself to think logically about the situation. Why am I rushing myself? It is ridiculous to think anyone would have a complete and cohesive body of work after just five weeks. It can take some artists years of hard work before they feel they have created a group of works that are worthy to be called a collection. I’m guessing this is one of the drawbacks of ‘working for yourself.’ But I digress…
Despite the fact that every single night is a fight with my brain, I did manage to get some work done, and I’m happy about that.

Yelp is the sister piece for last week’s Bovine. I’m thinking I can get at least one more collage out of this thread of ideas.

After I completed Yelp, I felt compelled to work on some illustrations that had been stewing in my mind as of late. Several years ago I had a dream about this bird-like figure (interestingly enough, not a nightmare), and ever since I’ve been intrigued with the imagery. My plan is to spend next week exploring this subject matter.
Two shakes of a lamb’s tail, huh? I like what you’ve done so far. The bird like figure has me intrigued…almost like those bird human figures you see in ancient Egyptian art.
Two shakes of a Weimaraner’s tail? The bird does look like an Egyptian god. I’ll have to do some research and figure out what it means.
Love this work especially 1000 years of darkness. Made me cry. What can I say.
Well, then my job here is done.
1000 Years of Darkness is my favorite piece of yours so far! Keep up the great work! 🙂
Thanks! This work was inspired by a video where Chuck Norris and his wife talk about the importance of the upcoming election. According to his wife, if we make the wrong choice, America is going to be ushered into a period of “1,000 years of darkness.” And, no, I am not joking.
Good work! What size are these pieces by the way?
Oooops, sorry, see that you’ve told us! but is that cm or inches?
Oops. I didn’t even realize I had forgot to specify the measurements. All the dimensions are in inches.
