We’ll Tak a Right Gude-Willie Waught

This will be my last post for 2012, unless of course the Mayans were right.  Then just assume this will be my last post ever.

I only have a few new works to show.  I’ve been spending much of my studio time sketching and experimenting with some new ideas that are not completely hashed out yet.  (Someone suggested that I show the work I do in my sketchbooks, but you can just forget about that.)  I’ve been messing around with acrylic inks, and I’m in the beginning stages of creating an artist’s book.  This bookmaking thing is really getting to me.  Methinks I shouldn’t have abandoned the art form so hastily.

I’m happy to say “good riddance” to 2012.  It’s been a pretty shitty year.  I only have a few days left to throw myself a pity party, and then it’s on to 2013.  I always have goals for myself, but I rarely make a list of them at the start of a new year.  I suppose 2013 will be an exception because it feels like the right time to draft some new goals.  When I was younger I thought writing my goals was a pointless and goofy thing to do.  Somewhere along the way, I realized it was pretty helpful.  I now like to have a running list of “5 year goals.”  I figure 5 years is enough time to do just about anything I want.  Interestingly, almost every “5 year goal” I’ve previously recorded has been achieved.  Two things I’ve decided to work towards next year include dedicating a significant portion of my efforts to bookmaking and opening an Etsy shop.  I have written several other goals, but I don’t want to share them all right now.  (Too much pressure, ya dig?)

Thanks again to all who are following my progress and who are supporting me with kind words and thoughts.  I appreciate you more than you know.  Here’s to a brilliant 2013.  Cheers!

First of all, I really like these pieces, too. And secondly…

“And there’s a hand my trusty friend! And give us a hand o’ thine!
And we’ll take a right good-will draught, for auld lang syne.
For auld lang syne, my dear, for auld lang syne,
we’ll take a cup of kindness yet, for auld lang syne.”

To endings and new beginnings, Megan!
