I really do love paper.  And it just so happens I own quite a bit of it.  As I mentioned in my last post, I spent many years making handmade books, and when you make books, you tend to acquire a lot of paper.  And what do you do when you have copious amounts of decorative paper?  You make collages, of course! 

After a week of being away from the studio due to a family illness, I’m finally getting back into the swing of things.  I spent most of this week making collages.  I forgot how much I like working with paper.  Unlike paint, ink, and graphite, I’m never anxious about starting a project when paper is the medium.  For some reason, I always feel exceptionally happy when I’m creating with paper.

This is my favorite piece from this week’s work.  It took me longer to cut the hundreds of tiny diamonds than it took me to assemble the pieces, but I find the tedious work therapeutic.  I will continue pursuing these “paper quilts” next week as well.

This is my attempt at a decorative QR code.  It’s crumbier than a big ole biscuit. 

This is my shaggy paper painting.  I’m not quite sure if this piece is crumby or the opposite of crumby.  My favorite thing about this work is the lunchbox in which I kept the paper scraps.  I still love Dumb and Dumber, I don’t care what anyone says.

 Wanna hear the most annoying sound in the world?  (My brother and I will do it for you if you ask real nice.)
